Here we have a gentleman wanting to add something extra to his project. He didn't want to risk using a table saw on this older piece he removed from the house he is remodeling. He brought it here to be sawn in half and now he has the 2 pieces he can put to his project.

These pieces are always a little concerning. Things to know in this scenario are where the piece was originally, how it was used, and very importantly how it was attached to the structure it came from. We found and removed 9or 10 cut nails before putting it on the mill. Nails are a regular risk to bandsaw blades and these guys didn't have heads on them because he used a reciprocating saw to remove it from the wall. You can see where we chiselled around the nails in order to get at them and remove them.

Removing hardware from trees/timber/ and dimensional lumber is a very meticulous undertaking but it saves you time and money to remove them. Other common risks people find are bullets, bolts, chains, screws and other metal objects.

Anyways, I am excited to see how his remodel project turns out!

Here is the newly finished product.
