A customer had an old Red Oak log he wanted to turn into Live Edge end tables and found us out through some mutual friends and acquaintances. We connected and met at his home about a week later.
When I arrived he had a surprise for me... not just one Red Oak log, but that, and also a very nice and healthy Ash Log. Each were about 10 long but the Oak was going to max out the Mill at just a shade under 30 inches wide
We started with the Ash which was very heavy. However, the winch system got it into place with ease and we were able to turn the log with a hook, chain, and a heavy duty jack. We got 8 slabs 2 inches thick.
The Oak was bigger yet but again, with the winch and turning equipment, the work was effortless and we cranked out another round of slabs 2-3 inches each.
I'm excited to see how the endtables turn out!
